transformers2 New Releases: Film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plus threeTransformers: Revenge of the Fallen — If you absolutely must see Michael Bay’s latest exercise in ear-splitting, mind-numbing CGI mayhem, at least be sure your date is someone you feel comfortable arguing with. The big question is not, as you might have guessed, “Who asked for a sequel to Transformers?” We trust the accountants have crunched the numbers and determined that there actually is an audience for this thing. No, the real conundrum is this: who’s the most annoying movie star of our era — Shia LaBeouf or Megan Fox? Between the ubiquitous Fox mouthing off about everything to the equally omnipresent LaBeouf trying way too hard to push the bad-boy image (did we really need to know he’d date his mother if they weren’t related?), it’s a real tossup. Maybe Transformers 2 will provide the conclusive evidence we’re all waiting for.

mysisterskeeper New Releases: Film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plus threeMy Sister’s Keeper — The poster makes it look like happy chick-flick fun, with Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin sharing a big smile while another adorable tot blows bubbles. Ideal light first date fare… until you find out it’s really the story of a “harvest child,” genetically engineered to be a donor for her cancer-riddled older sister, who sues for emancipation for her parents. Whoops!

cheri New Releases: Film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plus threeCheri — Here’s some attractive bait for you cougar hunters out there: Dangerous Liaisons screenwriter Christopher Hampton and director Stephen Frears reunite for this adaptation of the Colette novel about an aging courtesan (Michelle Pfeiffer) romancing the teenage son of a rival (Rupert Friend) in Belle Epoque Paris.

stoningsoraya New Releases: Film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen plus threeThe Stoning of Soraya M. — In 1986 Iran, a reporter (James Caviezel) whose car has broken down is a captive audience for a story about a young woman’s abusive marriage and its tragic ending. It’s hard to recommend this as a date movie to anyone — unless you already know you don’t want a second date.

Glad to hear this is getting a revamp - this is a painful scrap to chew after the glorious 5-course cinematic meal that was the Screengrab (RIP)
